Not only will you enjoy some of the best beef in the country, but you can be assured that it all comes from one ranch and one source. If you are ever in doubt, we invite you to come tour our operation, which is truly family run. Even the kids are an important part of the ranch!
85% of beef in the United States is controlled by four multinational corporations who are becoming incredibly wealthy off the backs of local ranchers. By purchasing your beef from High Steaks, you not only know the source of your beef, but you cut out the greedy, corporate middleman, and enjoy excellent beef directly from the ranch.
In order to talk about good quality beef, you have to start by talking about what goes into the meat. Our cattle are raised on quality native grass and finished on a locally sourced grain-based finishing ration. We also follow strict regenerative grazing practices, to avoid overgrazing and ensure we are good stewards of the land.
We doctor our calves when they are young (according to industry best practices), to keep them from getting sick and dying. Just like most of us do with our kids. However, we do not use hormones and you will never find antibiotics in our beef.
Over the course of decades, we have carefully managed our herd, keeping only cattle with superior genetics. Not only does this help produce the highest quality beef with increased marbling, but our cattle are also very hearty in order to endure the crazy, West Texas climate.
When you buy grocery store beef, you can never be exactly sure what you are getting.
“Fresh” meat may not be as fresh as you think. It’s not only important you know what is in your meat, but it’s also imperative you know where it comes from. Did you know that, when buying from a grocery store, there’s a very high chance that one pound of ground beef might be comprised of several different animals, many of them not even from the United States? In fact, the big meat packers regularly buy cattle from other countries, but as long as they are slaughtered here, they can label it a “Product of the USA”.
There is very little oversight into how grocery stores manage their meat. Oftentimes, they will re-freeze meat that is about to expire in order for it to remain “fresh”. They also have the unchecked ability to simply change the expiration date. Other unsightly practices include injecting beef with red dye to make it look fresher or packaging it with carbon dioxide.
At High Steaks Beef Co., our beef is fed right, treated right, & comes directly out of the field and straight to the USDA inspected butchers. It is then immediately frozen, which is how it arrives to your door. While we prefer you buy your beef from us, if you choose not to, we ask that you at least buy from some other ranch-to-table provider.
At High Steaks, we don't only care about excellent beef, we care about our community. For years, we have been donating our beef to a number of local organizations, from church groups, and addiction rehabilitation organizations, to youth booster clubs and other civic and non-profits.
To ensure we maintain our commitment to our community, for every $1,000 we sell, we donate 10lbs of our farm fresh beef. This allows our customers to also be part of giving back!
